Play well in front of a large audience, and the attention could garner praise from the media, coaches and the powers that be on the NCAA Tournament selection committee.
Conversely, a poor performance gets magnified because of the extra sets of eyes fixed upon televisions.

SAULT STE. MARIE - All the power-play time in the world couldn't save the Michigan hockey team as it lost to Lake Superior State 3-2 tonight at Taffy Abel Arena.
Though the Wolverines spent much of the game on the man advantage, including the last minutes of the game, the Lakers came out victorious thanks to standout goaltending from All-American Jeff Jakaitis.

At the beginning of January, Michigan coach Red Berenson said his team couldn't afford any mental lapses for the rest of the season. And until last weekend, the Wolverines had heeded the call, going 8-1 in their first nine games of 2007. But Michigan lost to last-place Bowling Green this past Friday.

When the No. 22 Michigan men's tennis team opens conference play this weekend at Northwestern, two Wolverines will revisit their roots. For first-year assistant coach Sean Maymi, it will be his first return.
